Brazilski predsjednik Jair Bolsonaro rekao je da je ozbiljnost pandemije koronavirusa preuveličana, pozivajući svoje sunarodnjake da prestanu biti “pičkice” pred Covidom-19 i ističući da ćemo “svi jednog dana umrijeti”.
Govoreći u utorak na svečanosti povodom ponovnog pokretanja turizma, Bolsonaro je opisao pandemiju Covida-19 kao pretjeranu. Broj umrlih od virusa u zemlji dostigao je 162.000.
Nastavio je rekavši da je “sada sve pandemija” i da je Brazil dio svjetskog vala “zatvaranja stvari”.
“Svi će umrijeti. Nema smisla bježati od toga, bježati od stvarnosti. Moramo prestati biti zemlja šonja.”
Ublažio je svoje primjedbe rekavši da suosjeća s onima koji su umrli, prije nego što je ustvrdio da ne zna zašto je on glavni jer mu nije bilo dopušteno donositi nikakve odluke u vezi s postupanjem s pandemijom. “Ono što nam je nedostajalo nije vođa, nego pustiti vođu da radi”, naglasio je.
Komentar: Bolsonaro izjavljuje nešto što je postalo očito tijekom pandemije, vođe nisu ti koji stvarno donose odluke za zemlju koja ih je izabrala.
Predsjednik je također rekao da je njegov život u Brazilu “s**j” i dodao da “tko god misli da je obnašanje ove dužnosti nešto što ga pali (engl. turn-on), potpuno je u krivu”.
Bolsonaro se zarazio Covidom-19 u srpnju, a početkom kolovoza rekao je da se potpuno oporavio.
Ranije u utorak, predsjednik je na Facebooku pozdravio prekid suđenja CoronaVacu u Brazilu kao “još jednu pobjedu za Jaira Bolsonara”. Predsjednik je bio vrlo kritičan prema cjepivu zbog njegovih veza s Kinom, a ranije je tvrdio da ga nikada ne bi kupio.
U srijedu je objavljeno da će se ispitivanje CoronaVac-a nastaviti u Brazilu.
Krajem listopada, Bolsonaro je okrznuo druge državne čelnike zbog nametanja oštrih mjera za Covid-19, označivši novi val lockdowna protiv koronavirusa “ludim”.
Brazil je trenutno treća nacija u svijetu po broju oboljelih od Covid-19, s ukupno 5.701.283 slučajeva od početka pandemije. U utorak je zemlja zabilježila daljnjih 25.517 infekcija i 204 nova smrtna slučaja.
